architecture

One of two checkerboard pieces

The nave was made of hewn field stones, which were carefully layered in the lower half. The lines run in the upper area, which is due to the renovation work at the end of the 19th century. On the southern wall of the church, in the central and eastern areas, there are two ogival windows, the walls of which are framed with red brick . In the direction of the west tower there is a smaller, higher window in the same style. In between a priest 's gate can be seen, which is covered with field stones. The north wall of the nave is structured identically. The choir is rectangular and drawn in. There are also two ogival windows on the north and south walls; on the south side an additional beehive-shaped gate. The eastern choir wall was also built from field stones. After the renovation, there are three pointed arch-shaped, slender windows with walls made of red brick. The gable is partially plastered ; in the center is a circular window with a cross built into it. The west tower takes up the width of the nave and is built entirely from field stones, which were largely evenly layered and hewn up to the upper area. The west portal is two-tiered and pointed arch-shaped. There is a slot-shaped opening on the north and south sides of the first tower floor . On the west side there is a panel with the inscription God is love . Another, narrow opening can be seen on the floor above, the upper half of which has been enlarged by a square and framed with red brick. The west side is provided with three beehive-shaped openings, the two outer ones of which are clogged and plastered. The central opening was presumably coupled at an earlier time and shows a slit-shaped opening. On the top floor there are two on the west and east sides, and one flat, ogival arcade on the north and south sides . This is followed by a transversely set gable roof with a weather vane and a cross. On the north-west and south-east corners of the tower there is a chessboard piece about one meter high .

The surrounding cemetery is enclosed with a wall made of field stones. Access is via a baroque portal from the 16th century, which was built from brick. It is decorated with white panels and the inscription peace be upon you .

Furnishing

According to an inscription on the staircase door, the wooden pulpit dates from 1697 and stands on a twisted foot. The sound cover is also made of wood and has the shape of a crown. The altar is comparatively simple and also made of wood. The central element is a crucifix . The patronage stalls on the north wall of the choir are decorated with pilasters and were made at the beginning of the 17th century. Only a few remains of this facility are left on the southern choir wall. They were supplemented by a baroque column from 1693. A Gothic tabernacle with a barred door stands on the east wall. The fifth was made of brass in the 17th century and is decorated with star-shaped ornaments. A relief tombstone with two putti on the pulpit stairs commemorates the preacher Christian Schramm, who died in 1691 . An organ by Carl Buchholz stands on the plain west gallery with its colored cassettes .
