Building description

View from the west

The church was essentially built from field stones that were not layered without being hewn. Individual repair work was carried out by craftsmen with light-colored brick ; plaster residues are partially visible. This is how the non-drafted choir with five-eighths ended . There are three windows, the one to the west of which is enlarged; the chamfered wall mended with brick.

This is followed by the nave to the west . On its north side there are two windows, in between a small, ogival gate, which could come from the construction period. On the south side there are four windows, the reveal of which is partially plastered. The ship and choir carry a simple roof made of beaver tail .

The west tower is square and strongly drawn in opposite the ship. It is stabilized by two buttresses made of dark brick on the northwest and southwest corners. These span an upward sloping facade towards the west, which was built entirely of brick. Inside is a pointed arch portal. The remaining facade elements are made of mixed masonry up to just below the roof ridge of the nave. There is a segment arch-shaped opening on the north and south sides. Above it is a boarded-up essay, each with a narrow, high rectangular sound arcade . On top of it is a curved tower dome , which ends with an octagonal tower spire and a tower ball .

Furnishing

The altar retable consists of a predella , which in turn was part of a wooden attachment, which was made by Andreas Schultze from Torgau in 1649 and painted three years later by Martin Heber from Cottbus . It shows the Lord's Supper and is accompanied by two medallions arranged on the side showing the donor couple Georg and Justina Planck with their coats of arms. There is a crucifix on it, which is framed by two angels with instruments of passion .

Schultze also created the pulpit in 1649 , which was taken by Heber in 1652. It consists of a five-sided pulpit on which the Salvator mundi and the four evangelists with their symbols can be seen. Above it is a sound cover . The basket is carried by a figure of Moses . There is a wooden connection between the parish chair and the pulpit. The six-sided fifth , which is decorated with fittings , was also made of wood around 1650 . The baptism of Christ is depicted on the lid. Experts suspect that this work was also by Schultze.
