Jamsrangiin Sambuu
Jamsrangiin Sambuu ( Mongolian Жамсрангийн Самбуу ; born June 27, 1895 in Büren Sum , Central Aimag ; † May 21, 1972 in Ulan Bator ) was a Mongolian politician and diplomat . From 1954 until his death he was President of the Mongolian People's Republic .
Life
Sambuu was born the son of a shepherd and rancher ( Mongolian арат , arat ). At the age of 16 he was a clerk in the municipality or aimag administration. In 1922 he joined the Mongolian People's Revolutionary Party (MRVP).
From 1922 to 1930 he was an employee in the Ministry of Finance of the Mongolian People's Republic. From 1930 to 1936 he worked in the administration and for the party in various aimags, including in the Archangai Aimag and in the Central and South Gobi Aimags , in which Sambuu was a member of the central executive committee. In 1936 he headed a department in the Ministry of Livestock and Agriculture.
From 1937 to 1946 Sambuu was envoy of the Mongolian People's Republic in Moscow , from 1946 to 1950 head of department in the Foreign Ministry of the Mongolian People's Republic, from 1950 to 1952 Ambassador in Pyongyang ( Korean Democratic People's Republic ) and from 1952 to 1954 Deputy Foreign Minister and 1953/1954 Deputy Chairman of the Society for Mongolian-Soviet Friendship.
In 1951 Sambuu was elected to the Great People's Chural and on July 7, 1954 chairman of the Presidium of the Great People's Chural (= President).
From 1954 Sambuu was also a member of the Central Committee and a member of the Politburo of the Central Committee of the MRVP.

A monument in honor of Sambuu was erected in Ulan Bator.
