From April 9, 1956, he was in a major post with a corresponding promotion to June 28, 1959.

In 1963 he became Lieutenant Colonel Commander of the 1st Battalion / Jamaica Regiment . In 1973 he was the military commander-in-chief of the Jamaica Defense Force (JDF) for six months, the shortest term to date, in the Brigadier rank . In March 1974 he retired as a soldier.

From 1975 to 1993 he worked, among other things, as a consultant to William Barclay Peat & Co. and Marwick Mitchell & Co. , then from 1994 as a personnel officer. He was also Director of the Jamaica Automobile Association , Vice President of the Island Council Jamaica Legion (BCEL), Honorary Vice President of the Scout Association, Lifelong Member of the Jamaica Rugby Association, Member of the Advisory Board of the Jamaica National Reserve , the Jamaica Paraplegic Association, the Jamaica Cancer Society, the Jamaica Defense Force Welfare Council, and the Patron Jamaica Motoring Club.

The marriage resulted in four sons and the daughter Carolyn Francis, among the sons Anthony "Tony" Richard Fitzgerald Robinson (later manager and head of several companies), Ian Martin Robinson and Derek Patrick Robinson also served in the JDF. The latter was from 2002 to 2008, like his father, commander of the 1st Battalion / Jamaica Regiment and then S O1 J2 / J3 (Intelligence and Operations) at the JDF headquarters , Up Park Camp .
