Dynazty is a Swedish power metal band from Stockholm.

Band history

Dynazty was founded in 2007 by Rob Love Magnusson (guitar, keyboard) and John Berg (guitar). Shortly afterwards, George Härnsten Egg and Joel Fox Apelgren joined the band. In 2008 they found a permanent singer in Nils Molin via MySpace . The first album Bring the Thunder was released as an in-house production.

In 2011 the second album Knock You Down was released on the Swedish label Stormvox, with which they reached number 21 in the Swedish charts. In 2011 the band took part in the Melodifestivalen , the Swedish preliminary decision for the Eurovision Song Contest . For this, she covered the song This Is My Life by Anna Bergendahl , with which she represented Sweden at the 55th Eurovision Song Contest . The band was allowed to perform this live on the show.

In 2012 she took part in the Melodifestivalen again with the song Land of Broken Dreams . However, she was eliminated in the fourth semifinals and could not convince in the Andra Chansen (second chance). But the single reached number 57 in the Swedish single charts.

The third album Sultans of Sin was produced by Peter Tägegren and was released via SoFo Records. It reached number 8 on the Swedish charts.

The album Renatus was released on March 28, 2014 . Like its predecessor, it was produced in Abyss Studios , with Jonas Kjellgren directing the recordings, but this time the band produced the album themselves. The album was released through Spinefarm Records . The album Titanic Mass followed in 2016 , again via Spinefarm Records.

The band performed live in support of Sabaton , Pain , Eclipse and Battle Beast, among others . In 2015 she was supposed to appear at ProgPower USA in Atlanta, but could not enter the United States due to visa problems. In 2017 Nils Molin became a singer with the multinational band Amaranthe and toured Europe with them. Actually only as a replacement for Jake E. Lindberg, he is now an integral part of the band.

The band signed with the German label AFM Records , where the album Firesign was released on September 28th . In 2020 the album The Dark Delight followed , which at number 33 in the German album charts marked the first chart position outside of Sweden.

Music genre

Musically, the band changed from a hard rock-like style that was dominant on the first albums to a power metal-heavy style on the newer releases. In particular, the first albums of hair metal and the AOR of the 1980s are permeated. Later the music got faster and a bit more catchy with a lot of emphasis on catchy melodies and keyboard sound.
