Dzielau (Polish: Dzielawy ) is a village in Upper Silesia . It is located in the municipality of Groß Neukirch in the powiat Kędzierzyńsko-Kozielski (Kandrzin-Cosel district) in the Opole Voivodeship .

Dzielau is located around six kilometers south of the municipality of Groß Neukirch , 20 kilometers south of the district town of Kędzierzyn-Koźle (Kandrzin-Cosel) and 56 kilometers south of the voivodeship capital Opole .

history

The place originated in the 14th century at the latest and was first mentioned in documents in 1340. In 1531 it was mentioned as "Dielau".

The place was mentioned in 1783 in the book Additions to the Description of Silesia as Dzielawy . At the time it belonged to a Baron von Kalckreuth and had 113 residents, a mill, eight farmers, four gardeners and five cottagers. In 1865 Dzielau had eleven farmers, two immigrants, four gardeners and 22 cottages, as well as a water mill. The church and the school were in Grzendzin .

In the referendum in Upper Silesia on March 20, 1921, 244 eligible voters voted for Upper Silesia to remain with Germany and eight for membership of Poland. After the division of Upper Silesia, Dzielau remained with the German Empire . On April 20, 1936, the place was renamed Teilbach in the course of a wave of renaming during the Nazi era . On October 1, 1937, the communities Grenzburg , Hirschgraben , Teilbach, Vierraben and Wiesenstein were merged to form the community of Teilbach. On October 26, 1937, the municipality of Teilbach was renamed in borders . Until 1945 the place was in the district of Cosel .

In 1945 the previously German town came under Polish administration. It became part of the Silesian Voivodeship and was given the Polish name Dzielawy. The district of Cosel was renamed Powiat Kozielski . In 1950 the place came to the Opole Voivodeship . In 1975 the powiat Kozielski was dissolved. In 1999 the place came to the newly founded Powiat Kędzierzyńsko-Kozielski . Since April 29, 2011, the place bears the official German name Dzielau in addition to the Polish name Dzielawy .
