Sakrau (Polish: Zakrzów ) is a village in Upper Silesia . It is located in the municipality of Groß Neukirch in the powiat Kędzierzyńsko-Kozielski (Kandrzin-Cosel district) in the Opole Voivodeship .

Sakrau is located around four kilometers northeast of Groß Neukirch , twelve kilometers south of the district town of Kędzierzyn-Koźle (Kandrzin-Cosel) and 49 kilometers south of the voivodeship capital Opole .
history
The place originated in the 13th century at the latest and was mentioned in a document from 1295–1305 in the Liber fundationis episcopatus Vratislaviensis ( Tithe Register of the Diocese of Wroclaw ) as "Zacraw".
The place was mentioned in 1783 in the book Additions to the description of Silesia as Sakrau and Zakrow , belonged to the Neukirch rule and was in the district of Cosel and had 269 inhabitants, a manorial Vorwerk, a Catholic parish church, a school, two mills, 36 farmers, 24 gardeners and 15 cottagers. In 1865 Sakrau consisted of a manor and a village. At that time, the village had 38 farmers, five gardeners and 93 cottagers, as well as two water mills, an inn and four butcher shops.
In the referendum in Upper Silesia on March 20, 1921, 537 eligible voters voted for Upper Silesia to remain with Germany and 224 for membership in Poland. At Gut Sakrau, 94 voted for Germany and one for Poland. After the division of Upper Silesia, Sakrau remained with the German Empire . On June 16, 1936, the place was renamed Rosengrund as part of a wave of renaming during the Nazi era . Until 1945 the place was in the district of Cosel .
In 1945 the formerly German town came under Polish administration and was then attached to the Silesian Voivodeship and renamed Zakrzów in Poland . The district of Cosel was renamed Powiat Kozielski. In 1950 the place came to the Opole Voivodeship . In 1975 the powiat Kozielski was dissolved. In 1999 the place came to the newly founded Powiat Kędzierzyńsko-Kozielski . On April 29, 2011, the place was also given the official German place name Sakrau .
