Wronin (Polish: Wronin ) is a village in Upper Silesia . It is located in the municipality of Groß Neukirch in the powiat Kędzierzyńsko-Kozielski (Kandrzin-Cosel district) in the Opole Voivodeship .

Wronin is located about six kilometers southwest of the municipality of Groß Neukirch , 21 kilometers southwest of the district town of Kędzierzyn-Koźle (Kandrzin-Cosel) and 55 kilometers south of the voivodeship capital Opole .

history

The place originated in the 13th century at the latest and was first mentioned in 1294 as "Wranow". From 1531 it was named "Wronin". In the 16th and 17th centuries it was owned by the Counts of Oppersdorf.

The place was mentioned in 1783 in the book Additions to the Description of Silesia as Wronin , belonged to a Count von Sedlnizky and was in the Cosel district of the Principality of Opole and had 290 inhabitants, a Vorwerk in the place and another outside with the name Mierzenzin , a mill, eleven Farmers and 31 gardeners . In 1865 Wronin consisted of a manor and a village community. At this point in time the village, together with its colonies of Miersentin and Heinrichsdorf, had 14 farm positions, 25 gardener positions and 81 cottages, as well as a Catholic school.

In the referendum in Upper Silesia on March 20, 1921, 539 voters in town voted for Upper Silesia to remain with Germany and 35 for membership in Poland. At Gut Czienskowitz, 98 voted for Germany and three for Poland. After the division of Upper Silesia, Wronin remained with the German Empire . On May 8, 1936, the place was renamed Vierraben in the wake of a wave of renaming during the Nazi era . On October 1, 1937, the place was incorporated into the municipality borders. Until 1945 the place was in the district of Cosel .

In 1945 the formerly German town came under Polish administration and was then attached to the Silesian Voivodeship and renamed the Polish Wronin . The district of Cosel was renamed Powiat Kozielski. In 1950 the place came to the Opole Voivodeship . In 1975 the powiat Kozielski was dissolved. In 1999 the place came to the newly founded Powiat Kędzierzyńsko-Kozielski . On April 29, 2011, the place was also given the official German place name Wronin .
