EL * KE was a German rock band that was under contract with it.sounds . The name of the band, which comes from Haren in Emsland , comes from a license plate that was always to be seen during their performances. At the end of 2002 the band members moved to Berlin.

history

On April 4, 2005, the debut single Adrenalin was released . A good two months later, on July 25, 2005, the second single Dach followed . On August 8, 2005, her debut album Wilder Westen was released. The CD was produced by Olaf OPAL .

The band became known u. a. through live performances at the Boarderweek in Val Thorens . On September 10, 2005, she appeared as the opening act alongside New Model Army and the Beatsteaks at the final concert of the Friss oder Dies tour of Die Toten Hosen . She also performed in August 2005 at the Taubertal Openair Festival on the “Sounds For Nature” stage.

In May 2006 EL * KE reached second place in the Jägermeister Rock: League . Twelve colleagues tried to win the JägerMeisterschale prize through various live performances . The victory was determined by shouting from the audience. EL * KE was only 0.3 dB short of victory and Deichkind was declared the winner. In addition, the jury, consisting of MTV presenter Markus Kavka and actor Jürgen Vogel , declared her appearance to be the best rock show of the evening.

In January 2007 their second album was released, called We Must Get Out of Here . In addition to I like you , the piece Traumfrau was extracted from this.

For Die Welle , which opened in theaters in March 2008 , the band provided a cover version of the Ramones play Rock 'n' Roll High School , which is the opening scene for the film. Actor Jürgen Vogel sings the entire song in this film.

The album with the title Houses fall one was released on July 4th, 2008. Farin Urlaub wrote a piece for the album called Why Whatever . They also accompanied Billy Idol on his Germany tour in the summer of 2008 and, in addition to their appearances at Rock am Ring and Rock im Park, they were also the opening act for some concerts by Iggy Pop & The Stooges .

With the exception of a one-time festival appearance in late summer 2011 at the Rüt'n Rock Open Air in their hometown of Haren, the band's activities have been suspended since 2009.

Since 2009 the band members have orientated themselves differently. Mücke is currently booked as a musician for Madsen live shows, Hubi is involved in many projects (Bella Wreck, this love is deadly, Serge from France) and Peter is busy working on his solo career. In addition, an album by the former band Swamphead was realized, which was released in 2015 under the name ... Alive . The album unites the musical spectrum of the band from the formation to the separation in 2001 and is intended to mark the end of the joint band project.
