Nicky Adler (born May 23, 1985 in Leipzig ) is a former German soccer player .

Career

Nicky Adler played in his youth with SG Rotation Leipzig and VfB Leipzig .

From 2003, Adler played in the reserve team of TSV 1860 Munich , with which he first played in the Bayern League and from 2004 in the Regionalliga Süd . His achievements during this time were considered outstanding. At the beginning of the 2005/06 season, Adler moved up in the Lions' second division squad .

For the 2007/08 season , the first division club 1. FC Nürnberg Adler signed a free transfer. There he came on thirteen league appearances, where he was only five times in the starting line-up and only played once for the full time. There was also a brief appearance in the DFB Cup and three games in the UEFA Cup, in which he was always substituted. He could never achieve a goal or an assist. At the end of the season, Adler left the relegated club.

For the 2008/09 season , Adler joined the also relegated MSV Duisburg . He scored his first goal for the zebras on matchday fifteen against RW Oberhausen. In summer 2010 he moved after 42 second division games (5 goals) for MSV to second division promoted VfL Osnabrück.

For the 2011/12 season , Adler signed a one-year contract with Wacker Burghausen , where he met his former coach from MSV Duisburg Rudi Bommer . In the first half of the season the striker scored eight goals, including a brace against SpVgg Unterhaching , which earned him a player of the month nomination. Adler then fell out for a long time due to injury. Under the new coach Reinhard Stumpf , he was only used again shortly before the end of the season. After Sebastian Glasner , he was the second most successful goalscorer in the Burghauser team at the end of the season.

For the 2012/13 season , Adler moved to SV Sandhausen, who had been promoted to the 2nd Bundesliga . The team managed to stay in the league despite the 17th place in the table because the MSV Duisburg's license was withdrawn. In the 2013/14 season he was the team's most successful goalscorer with nine goals. For the 2015/16 season , despite a contract that ran until 2016, Adler signed a two-year contract with third division club FC Erzgebirge Aue for private reasons. With the club, Adler rose to the 2nd Bundesliga as runner-up behind Dynamo Dresden . In the following second division season 2016/17 , the striker with FC Erzgebirge managed to stay in the second division despite a 1-0 defeat at Fortuna Düsseldorf on matchday 34.

In March 2018, Adler founded the “Sportler Save Lives” initiative. With the support of 16 other athletes, he presented the project at a press conference. The aim of the initiative is to train athletes and sports clubs to be as prepared as possible in the event of sudden cardiac arrest.

The striker was the end of his active career at third division 1. FC Lokomotive Leipzig under contract and then was assistant coach Wolfgang Wolf at this same club.
