Nikki Adler (born April 2, 1987 in Augsburg , bourgeois Nikolina Orlović) is a German professional boxer of Croatian descent. She is the current WBU , WBF and WIBA world champion and a former WBC world champion in the super middleweight division . Nikki Adler lives in Augsburg.

Amateur career

At the age of 15, Nikki Adler, then still Nikolina Orlović, started kickboxing. There her great talent was shown very quickly, so that she was able to successfully contest her first fight after a few weeks. This was followed by two 3rd places at the German championships and winning the Bavarian championships. At the same time, she competed in the German Boxing Championships in 2004, which she won straight away.

Nikki Adler then completed an apprenticeship at Deutsche Post AG alongside her amateur career.

In 2007, the left-wing interpreter resumed boxing training and, after a short training period, again contested the German championships, which she again won. From then on, she boxed for Croatia on an international level, as she did not yet have German citizenship. She developed steadily under the former Ukrainian national coach Borys Raytman. She regularly took part in German, European and world championships.

After receiving her German citizenship, she was banned from the AIBA for 3 years, which prevented her from starting in the German national team and ultimately led her to opt for a career with the professionals.

In the final of the German championship in 2008, she defeated today's middleweight world champion Christina Hammer .

Professional career

In 2010 Adler became a professional with the Wiking Box Team in Berlin. Under coach Hartmut Schröder, she became German champion in May 2011 with a knockout victory in the 2nd round against Danijela Bickei and in November of the same year European champion of the WIBF with a point win after 10 rounds against Pia Porter from Karlsruhe.

The cooperation with Wiking ended in 2012. She then trained with the coaching team Thommy Wiedemann and Bernd Fernengel in Ulm until 2014.

On July 14, 2012, Adler became world champion in super middleweight according to the version of the WBU. She defeated the Serbian Emoke Halasz by knockout in the 4th round. In January 2013, the second world title followed with a unanimous victory over Edita Lesnik. In May 2013 the third World Championship title followed with a victory over Zane Brige from Latvia over 10 rounds on points, this time according to the WBF version. The fight took place in Volgodonsk , Russia.

The world title according to the version of the WBC ( World Boxing Council ) she won in November 2013 in a fight against Zane Brige over 10 rounds on points in Grozny . It was the first women's boxing match in Chechnya .

In May 2014 Adler defended her WIBA and WBU titles in Krasnodar against Gifty Amanua Ankrah. In September 2014 Adler celebrated another World Cup success by knocking out Rita Kenessey in Holzminden, Germany.

In 2015, Adler focused on defending her WBC title in a gripping fight against Szilvia Szabados in the MHP Arena Ludwigsburg. Adler won by a unanimous point victory. Her next challenger was Elene Sikmashvili. With a knockout, Adler defeated the Georgian in Saarbrücken in July 2016 and remains the reigning and undefeated world champion in the super middleweight division.

On August 4, 2017, she lost her world title to Claressa Shields in the fifth round due to a technical knockout .
