action

The recently dismissed wine salesman Paul and his wife Mary, who works as a nurse, dream of opening a restaurant. While Mary is preparing dinner for the upcoming visit to the real estate agent , Paul, unwillingly, ends up in a swingers party in a neighboring apartment . From there, in turn, a visitor sneaks into the decent couple's apartment. The returning Paul kills the sexually harassed man with a frying pan. They take the cash from the dead man and throw it into the garbage disposal .

After a loan application was rejected and Paul was caught by a fraud, it became clear how precarious their financial situation is. The pan proves its worth again with the next lascivious intruder from the apartment, so that Mary comes up with the idea of targeting “perverts”, as she calls them, with an advertisement in order to knock them down and take them out. The earnings model turns out to be more exhausting than expected, but is flourishing.

The petty criminal Raoul finds out about the couple. They accept his offer to take over the corpses and monetize them. Some time later, Paul spies on Raoul and finds that the clothes in the thrift store , the cars at the used car dealer, and the bodies in the dog food factory make more money than Raoul claims. When the couple ran their own business, a conflict broke out, which ended with a blow on Raoul's head. Since this happens three quarters of an hour before the planned contract with the broker, they unceremoniously serve the dismantled Raoul for dinner.

Reviews

“Malicious black comedy which, as a satire on the sex obsession of the petty bourgeoisie and the practices of capitalist profit maximization at all costs, oscillates between macabre farce and silly humor. Visually discreet, drastic in dialogue. "

"Raven black, bitter-angry and very funny!"

"It is macabre, but at the same time as conservative as the terrible couple will remain for life - and this contradiction between being and doing would have sparked completely different sparks."

Awards

Eating Raoul was nominated for the 1983 Saturn Award for best low-budget film. Mary Woronov received a Best Actress nomination for her role as Mary Bland .
