Eberhard Dennert

Eberhard Gustav Heinrich Nathanael Dennert (born July 31, 1861 in Pützerlin near Stargard , † June 18, 1942 in Bad Godesberg ) was a German natural scientist, philosopher, senior teacher and founder and leader of the Kepler Association .

Life

He attended the secondary school in Lippstadt and was a student there. a. by Hermann Müller . Dennert studied natural sciences in Bonn and Marburg, where he also received his doctorate in 1884 and passed the state examination in 1885. During his studies he became a member of the Bonn Wingolf .

In 1907, Eberhard Dennert founded the Keplerbund in Frankfurt am Main to promote knowledge of nature , based in Godesberg . The Keplerbund was dedicated to combating Darwin's theory of evolution and materialistic monism, as represented by Ernst Haeckel . It is regarded as the answer of Christian (Protestant) oriented scientists to the intensive public relations work of the German Monist Association founded by Ernst Haeckel in 1906 . Dennert maintained close contacts with prominent Christian scientists such as Johannes Reinke and Erich Wasmann .

Dennert was a teacher at the Evangelical Pedagogy in Godesberg from 1889 to 1908 as well as editor and publisher of the "German Encyclopedia": Dennerts Konversations Lexikon , 3 volumes, in the 3rd expanded edition, Verlag der Badische Presse, Karlsruhe, 1910. For the entire editorial team of the work his brother the theologian Karl Mützelfeldt was responsible. From 1903 to 1910 he published the magazine Glaube und Wissen , from 1909 to 1920 Our World .
