reception

"Echoes is nearly the best possible assembly of the band's individual songs one could hope for, and collectors and completists should be overjoyed."

- Zac Johnson : Allmusic

“With the exception of the debut single and the rather unnecessary 'Set The Tigers Free,' [sic!] Which was previously only heard on the soundtrack for 'The Wall', the album consists of the already known studio versions. That is only disappointing at first glance, because the manic search for perfection is an essential part of the sound, which, digitally revised, sometimes looks even more bombastic than when it was first released. "

- Giuliano Benassi : laut.de

"All the usual suspects are here with a few glaring omissions and several quite brave choices. [...] What brings these tracks back to life after so long at the back of our record collections is the way they've been segued in non-chronological order, creating startling new contexts and contrasts. "

- Chris Jones : BBC Music
