Run Like Hell is a song by British rock band Pink Floyd . It was released in 1979 on the concept album The Wall and on single.
background
The music was written by David Gilmour , the lyrics by Roger Waters . The song, which describes Pink, how he feels like a fascist dictator on stage, makes fun of minorities and feels paranoid, contains the only keyboard solo on The Wall album. After the last passage sung, a synthesizer solo is played instead of the singing. After the solo, the music is reduced: the guitar only plays an ostinato with a rhythmic echo and short variations of the riff. Sound effects are used in the piece to create a feeling of paranoia. Sounds like cruel laughter, the footsteps of someone running, braking car tires and a loud scream support this mood.
As with Comfortably Numb , Run Like Hell's music has its roots on David Gilmour's first solo album : Short and Sweet can be seen as the forerunner of this song.
