Ed Gordon

Ed Gordon ( Edward Lansing Gordon Jr .; born July 1, 1908 in Jackson (Mississippi) , † September 1971 in Detroit ) was an American long jumper and Olympic champion .

At the Olympic Games in Amsterdam in 1928 he was seventh with 7.32 meters, and in 1932 he won the Olympic Games in Los Angeles . At 7.64 meters, he was four inches ahead of the second, his compatriot Lambert Redd . The Japanese world record holder Chuhei Nambu was well behind with 7.45 meters in third place.

In 1929 and 1932 he won the championship of the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) in 1929 and 1932. In 1938 and 1939 he won the indoor title of the AAU.

Ed Gordon was 1.90 m tall and weighed 82 kg during his playing days.
