Edgars Točs (born November 29, 1988 in Madona ) is a Latvian beach volleyball player .

Career

Točs took part in the U23 European Championship with Toms Benjavs in 2010 and reached 13th place. In 2012 he and Toms Šmēdiņš took 17th place at the CEV Masters in Novi Sad and took part in his first Grand Slam on the FIVB World Tour in Berlin . In 2013 Točs played two tournaments in the EEVZA series (Eastern European Volleyball Zonal Association). He finished fifth with Benjavs in Riga .

In Moscow he appeared for the first time with his new partner Rihards Finsters and finished ninth. In 2014, Točs / Finsters were eliminated early on at the CEV satellite tournaments in Antalya and Vaduz and at the Masters in Baden . After a fourth place at the EEVZA tournament in Saint Petersburg , they were ninth in the satellite tournament in Jūrmala . In 2015 they won the tournament in Vilnius in the EEVZA series after finishing fifth in Moscow . They also finished fifth at the satellite tournament in Skopje , while they were eliminated early at the Grand Slam in Olsztyn and 21st at the CEV Masters in Milan . They finished the Eastern European tournament in Batumi in seventh place. After that they competed in two open tournaments of the World Tour in Antalya and Qatar , where they came in 17th and ninth place. You finished the year with a fifth place at the EEVZA tournament in Riga.

At the beginning of 2016 Točs / Finsters reached the 25th place at the Grand Slam in Rio de Janeiro . Then they played six open tournaments of the World Tour 2016 and achieved their best result with 17th place in Sochi . The results also stayed in double digits at the following Grand Slams in Moscow and Olsztyn and at the Major in Gstaad . Then they played twice in a row in Jūrmala and were third in the EEVZA tournament and ninth in the CEV Masters. At the EEVZA tournament in Batumi Točs played exceptionally with Arnis Tunte and took fifth place.

At the beginning of the World Tour 2017, Točs / Finsters were eliminated early in the five-star tournament in Fort Lauderdale . After a seventh place in the satellite tournament in Gothenburg , they came 17th in the three-star tournaments of the FIVB series in Xiamen and Moscow. At the EEVZA tournament in Rokiškis they were third. The two Latvians qualified for the 2017 World Cup in Vienna via the CEV preliminary decision .

Since 2018, the two-time Olympian Mārtiņš Pļaviņš Točs' new partner. Pļaviņš / Točs had numerous top ten placements on the 2018 World Tour . They won the 4-star tournament in The Hague and came fifth at the World Tour Final in Hamburg .
