Edouard van Goethem MSC (born March 10, 1873 in Beveren , Belgium ; † May 26, 1949 ) was a Belgian religious and Roman Catholic Vicar Apostolic of Coquilhatville .

Life

Edouard van Goethem joined the Congregation of the Sacred Heart Missionaries at and received on 23 December 1899, the sacrament of Holy Orders . On February 25, 1924, Pope Pius XI appointed him . for the first Apostolic Prefect of Tsuapa (later Coquilhatville).

On November 29, 1932, Edouard van Goethem became the first Apostolic Vicar of Coquilhatville and Pius XI as a result of the elevation of the Apostolic Prefecture of Coquilhatville to the Apostolic Vicariate. appointed him titular bishop of Corone . The Bishop of Ghent , Honoré-Jozef Coppieters , donated him episcopal ordination on April 25, 1933 ; Co- consecrators were the auxiliary bishop in Mechelen , Jean Marie Van Cauwenbergh , and the emeritus Vicar Apostolic of Léopoldville , Noël de Cleene CICM .

Edouard van Goethem resigned as Apostolic Vicar of Coquilhatville on April 10, 1947.
