Eduard Friedrich von Enckevort

Eduard Friedrich von Enckevort (born September 27, 1808 in Vogelsang ; † May 11, 1883 ibid) was a Prussian politician and lord of the manor of Vogelsang in Pomerania .

Eduard Friedrich came from the old noble family von Enckevort (in different historical spellings). He was a son of Karl Friedrich Heinrich von Enckevort (1762-1835) and Johanna von Enckevort (1770-1832), daughter of Bernd Friedrich von Enckevort.

Career

Enckevort visited the Academic High School in Szczecin and then studied at the University of Greifswald law . He did his military service in the 2nd Jäger Battalion in Greifswald . In 1835 he came into possession of the goods he had inherited from his father and also acquired the Mönkeberg estate .

He became a member of the district council and as district deputy representative of the district administrator . In 1848 he was elected to the Prussian National Assembly. From 1850 to 1852 he was a member of the First Chamber of the Prussian Landtag . From 1852 to 1858, from 1866 to 1867 and from 1870 to 1873 he sat in the Prussian House of Representatives , the second chamber of the Prussian state parliament. From 1852 to 1855 he was a member of the constituency Stettin 2 and member of the Carl parliamentary group and from 1855 to 1858 a member of the Stettin 1 constituency and member of the Büchtemann parliamentary group. From 1866 to 1867 and from 1870 to 1873 he also represented the constituency of Stettin 1, now as a member of the Conservative Party . He was also a member of the Provincial Parliament of the Province of Pomerania .

Enckevort was interested in art and science. He expanded the library in Vogelsang with numerous works on Old Pomeranian history and wrote a manuscript on family history. He was partly the founder and partly the sponsor of an extensive collection of coins, coats of arms, weapons, shells and stones. He had the manor house in Vogelsang built in the neo-renaissance style. In 1870 he set up a family fideikommiss with Vogelsang and shares in Warsin, Bellin and the Damgarten field .

Eduard Friedrich von Enckevort married on June 23, 1837 in Stettin Luise Alexandrine Balcke (1818–1876), daughter of the Stettin Chief Postal Director Balcke. The two had four sons and three daughters, including:

  • Balduin (1843–1895), Prussian cavalryman, Major a. D.
  • Eduard Ludwig Julius (1845–1924), Prussian major general ⚭ 1880 Nadine von Michael (* 1860)
