When he was painting the altar in the Dominican monastery at the beginning of the 20th century, he used Roth's eldest son, Joseph Roth , as an angel model. Even when the younger son Ernst Moritz Roth was to study art, Knackfuss helped with his contacts in Düsseldorf. Knackfuss also painted at St. Josef Kolleg Vechta and in Düsseldorf.
