Edward Junior Ofere (born March 28, 1986 in Enugu ) is a Swedish - Nigerian football player. The striker moved to Europe in 2005 and has since played in Scandinavia, Italy, Scotland and Turkey.

Career

Career start in Sweden

Ofere first played for Enugu Rangers in Nigeria and played a friendly game for the Nigerian national team in 2004 . In 2004 he scored both goals for Enugu in a 2-1 victory in the Supercup against Dolphins FC , but the trophy still went to the Dolphins because the club, as champions and national cup winners, was already the Supercup winner. On September 1, 2005, the then 19-year-old attacking player moved to the Swedish club Malmö FF on loan until the end of the year . In mid-October, after scoring a goal in five games in the Allsvenskan to date, the club decided to sign the Nigerian, who received a three-year contract. In the following seasons he ran irregularly for the first team in the Allsvenskan, before he made his breakthrough in the 2008 season . Under the new coach Roland Nilsson signed at the beginning of the season , he became a regular player and led the club to sixth place with nine goals this season. At the end of the season, he finally extended his contract for another two years. In the following season he again placed himself among the top scorers of the Allsvenskan, when he formed the club's storm duo with ten goals this season together with eleven-time goalscorer Daniel Larsson . In early 2010, he received Swedish citizenship and was then traded as a potential candidate for the Swedish national team . After an injury in preparation, he was fit again at the beginning of the 2010 season , but had lost his regular place.

Change to Serie A

Ofere wanted to leave Malmö FF in summer 2010. After he had initially been in negotiations with the Belgian club KRC Genk , which failed, he moved to the Italian Serie A promoted US Lecce on August 30, shortly before the end of the summer transfer period . Three weeks later he made his debut in a 1-1 draw against FC Parma for his new club in the championship, and only started regularly at the end of October. However, a knee injury in January prevented him from playing more than eleven league games in his first season in Italy.

Short engagements in various European leagues

After two years with US Lecce , he dissolved his contract and moved to Trelleborgs FF . With his third division team at the time , he made a name for himself again with a goal rate of eight goals in eleven league appearances by the end of the season. Then his sub-class engagement was over after only one half series, at the turn of the year he joined the Danish club FC Vestsjælland . The Danish runner-up had slipped into the lower half of the table, especially due to a lack of goal danger, but Ofere could not fulfill the hope placed in him and was only successful twice by the end of the season.

In the summer of 2014 Ofere moved to Norway to Sogndal Fotball , but moved on to the Scottish club Inverness Caledonian Thistle in the spring of the following year . With the club he reached the final of the 2014-15 Scottish Cup , where goals from Marley Watkins and James Vincent of FC Falkirk 2: 1 and defeated the Cup was won for the first time in club history. Ofere played for the entire duration of the game. At the same time, he was third in the 2014/15 championship with the club .

For the 2015/16 season Ofere moved to the Turkish second division side Boluspor . His engagement remained unsuccessful, however, in January 2016 he moved back to Scotland to Dundee United . However , the club ended the 2015/16 championship on the relegation zone, after which its contract expired.

In February 2017, the Swedish club FC Rosengård 1917 signed Ofere, who signed a one-year contract with the Malmö district club.
