Eichenhofen is a parish village and part of the Seubersdorf municipality in the Upper Palatinate . The place is about 2.8 kilometers northeast of Seubersdorf.

history

The district of Eichenhofen is located at the foot of the Adelburg castle ruins , a high medieval castle complex . The name is derived from adal = outdoor seating. So it means festivals of the free.

From the High Middle Ages to the 14th century, the respective lords of the castle also had the village jurisdiction over Eichenhofen. This is derived from the right of disposal and ownership of the Tafernwirtschaft zu Eichenhofen.

In 1353 the district judge zu Hirschberg granted the village rule to the Parsbergers , who were also wealthy in Eichenhofen . In the period from 1435 to 1485, the Parsberg family had the pledge of the Adelburg. Eichenhofen was again closely linked to the rule of the Adelburg. The first pastor of Eichenhofen is mentioned around 1480. In 1507 Eichenhofen, which in the meantime had developed an almost market-like character, was mentioned separately in the exchange income of the Velburg office . In the course of the 16th century, the era of the Wiespecken zu Velburg and Adelburg, Eichenhofen was completely incorporated into the Velburg administrative and judicial area. From 1551 the dilapidated castle was completely demolished when the noble Burger for breach of the peace in outlawry were set and vorgingen imperial troops against them. In 1681 the vicar general advocated the appointment of a schoolmaster.

There was another tavern in Eichenhofen, so it can be assumed that two gentlemen lived next to each other in Eichenhofen. A Jörg Prantel appeared in 1451 as the sealer of a certificate about the inn . This second "Tafern und Schenkstatt" was sold in 1561 by Stephan Schellinger to Georg Hector Wiespeck, the lord of the castle and district of Velburg. Two years later, he also acquired a bathroom that was available here . This was operated by various baths well into the 19th century.

The parish church of St. Nicholas was built in 1716/1717 and expanded in 1850. In 1906 the nave was rebuilt.

In the years 1818 to 1821, the political community Eichenhofen with Gastelshof and Haag was established. By 1877 the village had grown to 36 houses. On April 27, 1893, parts of the village were reduced to rubble in a fire.

On April 7, 1903, the savings and loan fund Eichenhofen was founded. In 1953, the seat was relocated to the local Raiffeisenkasse in Seubersdorf . On January 1, 1972, the municipality of Eichenhofen with the districts Gastelhof and Haag was incorporated into Seubersdorf.
