A ball for Mac Gregor (original title: 7 donne per i Mac Gregor ) is a comedic spaghetti western from an Italian-Spanish co-production, which Franco Giraldi directed in 1966 as a sequel to The 7 Pistols of McGregor . action

The seven brothers of the Scottish family clan MacGregor take their famous Colts and go on the hunt for the bandits of the leader Maldonado, who tries at every opportunity to rob the family and got hold of the buried gold. The gang, meanwhile, is after the brothers' fiancée, the seven red-haired daughters of the Irish Donovan family, as the next victims, but did not expect their determined and resourceful resistance. Maldonado's toothache also prevents the bandit from hiring a dentist; in the large coach that serves as a practice, the MacGregors can get to the bandits' headquarters. In fierce firefights, the brothers manage to get hold of the stolen property. Then the bandits kidnap the bridal couple, Gregor MacGregor and Rosita, at an engagement party. In exchange for the gold, Maldonado releases the two of them again. However, the treasure is now made of dynamite. In the end, many happy couples celebrate.

criticism

The lexicon of international films judged positively and succinctly: “Exhilarating, comical-ironic western comedy.” Joe Hembus was also impressed: “A funny spaghetti western that doesn't try to be absolutely Italian. The punch lines are reminiscent of George Marshall , the dance scenes almost of John Ford ”. The Protestant film observer , on the other hand, judged ambiguously : "Italo-Western with a dash of comedy, which (even if the jokes are not always of the best kind) does the genre very well and makes the usual brutality somewhat bearable."

Remarks

The exterior shots were taken in Aldea del Fresno , Guadix and Nuevo Baztán .
