action

Anne Petersen returns to the port with her catch. There she meets the veterinarian Thomas Krugmann, who has just arrived from Hanover, with his children and his girlfriend Sabine. Since their car is on strike and they have to go to a workshop, they decide to stay in town. Anne helps them find accommodation and places them with Stina, who runs a small guesthouse in addition to her old farm. The children Moritz and Nele are immediately enthusiastic because there are so many animals here. She also fell in love with Anne's Robbe William immediately. While Thomas takes care of the repair of his car, Sabine goes swimming with his children. However, they don't want her to take the place of their late mother and rebel. Instead of having fun with Sabine on the beach, they prefer to help Stina milk the cows. In the evening, they proudly report to their father about their experiences. Sabine is less happy about the unplanned vacation spot. It is far too lonely and quiet for her.

Anne lives alone with her seal, which she raised as a howler, and reveals her financial worries to her. If she doesn't catch more fish soon, she'll have to sell the cutter and give up her job. To make matters worse, her boat's engine is on strike and she has to go back to the harbor. The repair costs now put an additional strain on your budget.

Piet Jensen often helps his aunt Stina on the farm and actually has an eye on Anne. But when he gets closer to the holiday guest Sabine, they both feel their interest in one another. Thomas, on the other hand, feels attached to Anne and she tolerates his presence. While they are out and about together, Moritz and Nele discover Anne's house and are thrilled about it because it reminds them a lot of Pippi Longstocking 's house. When Anne catches them inspecting their apartment, she doesn't blame them. On the contrary, she talks to them and learns that their father is a widower and that they don't like his girlfriend Sabine. However, she makes every effort to be accepted and respected by the children, but this does not lead to success and she even argues with Thomas. However, he is also angry with Anne because she simply took his children on a sailing trip without asking him first. When he tries to confront her, his children confess that they told Anne that they had asked beforehand. Thereupon Thomas apologizes to Anne and both notice that something seems to be developing between them, but they don't want to admit it. When Piet invited Sabine and Thomas to the fisherman's ball and then Anne arrived, the situation was cleared up for everyone involved. Thomas only has eyes for Anne and Sabine is happy to have found an enterprising friend in Piet. Only Anne is still reluctant to get involved in a relationship for fear of being disappointed. Only when Thomas throws himself into the sea to swim after her does it soften her heart and they kiss. The children are enthusiastic and it is clear to them that they will stay here forever and are happy to move into Anne's house. For Thomas there is an unexpected professional opportunity, because the old veterinarian, Dr. Knut Hansen, wants to retire and offers Thomas his practice.

Sabine decides to stay with Piet and support him in his business ventures. He wants to turn the small pension into a family hotel. With their help, Piet even managed to get funding for his project.

Seal William helps Anne find a large school of fish at the end of the day, so that she returns home with a large catch, which solves her financial problems for the time being and makes the happy ending perfect.

Production notes

A seal to fall in love with first aired on May 13, 2006 on Das Erste . The shooting took place on the Darß and Fischland .

The Trio Hafennacht made musical contributions and could be heard in both films with their maritime chansons. The animal training was done by Vicky and Hans Pedersen. They also incorporated two of their penguins into the scenes, which are paddling around the beach relatively aimlessly. The reason for this was that “at that time the seal did so little of what was expected of it, and the trainer had the penguins with him and they were much more willing. [Hence] the production got the two penguins for free for one day. That's how they came into the first film and they were incorporated into the second part as a gag. "

criticism

The TV Spielfilm gave the worst rating (thumbs down) and found: “Terrifyingly flat TV howl.” And came up with the conclusion: “Who just thinks of such nonsense!”.

Tilmann P. Gangloff at Kino.de, on the other hand, says: “'A seal to fall in love with' [is], despite the unimaginative title, nice Saturday evening entertainment [...]. It doesn't even matter that Deborah Kaufmann's cheerful cleavage doesn't match her sacrificial gaze any more than Gesine Cukrowski's little Berlin dialect coloration matches a child from the Baltic Sea. The figure of the fisherwoman with financial problems is Cukrowski much more convincing than the last Sharon Stone blend in the ZDF thriller 'Love and kill'. Also really worth seeing is Oliver Mommsen, who explores the whole spectrum of his role in an extremely sympathetic way, sometimes comedic, sometimes melodramatic. "
