Eitel Friedrich II. Von Hohenzollern (* 1452 ; † June 18, 1512 in Trier ) was a count in the county of Hohenzollern and belonged to the Swabian line of the Hohenzollern . He was the first president of the Reich Chamber Court under the name of Kammerrichter . As a close friend of the king and later emperor Maximilian I of Habsburg , he gained great influence in imperial politics. He also managed to consolidate and expand his own property.

Approach to the Franconian castle counts of Hohenzollern

Eitel Friedrich II., The son of Jobst Nikolaus I (1433–1488) who was entitled to inherit , approached the Frankish- Burggravial line of the Hohenzollern following his father's course . During his father's reign he lived for a long time at the court of Elector Albrecht Achilles . From 1481 he was captain of the Krossen rule (east of the Oder ) for Brandenburg . In 1483 he became a Brandenburg councilor, later administrator of Kottbus and Züllichau . In 1482 he married Magdalena von Brandenburg in Berlin . The different lines of the Hohenzollern families formed a certain unity at that time. Elector Albrecht Achilles, who himself had possessions in Swabia, also offered the Swabian Hohenzollern protection against the powerful Counts of Württemberg , who had long been a threat to the Swabian branch of the family.

Approach to Habsburg

Eitel Friedrich II., A friend of Maximilian I, leaned against Habsburg and thus gained great influence on imperial politics. He performed diplomatic services for his king and fought for him in the Netherlands. He was able to distinguish himself in the Battle of Guinegate in 1479 and in 1488 he led the vanguard against Bruges when rebellious citizens kept the emperor prisoner there. Since he had also served the king as chamber judge, he became president of the newly established Reich Chamber Court in 1495. In 1497/98 Eitel Friedrich II was appointed to the Austrian Councilor. In 1499 he led a small army with Dietrich von Blumeneck against the Swiss on Lake Constance and conquered Rorschach . In 1500 he occupied the county of Gorizia for Austria. In 1501 he was awarded the Order of the Golden Fleece . On September 12, 1504 he fought in the Landshut War of Succession near Regensburg against the Palatinate and Bohemians, where he commanded the right wing of the cavalry and thus contributed to the victory.

As early as 1488, the Habsburg vain Friedrich II pledged the county of Haigerloch , and in 1497 it became his hereditary property.
