The El Arenal district is located in the Paita Province of the Piura region in northwestern Peru . The district was founded on November 3, 1874. It has an area of 8.29 km². At the 2017 census, there were 1,195 residents in the district. In 1993 the population was 1229, in 2007 1092. The administrative seat is the 50 m high village of El Arenal (also Arenal) with 658 inhabitants (as of 2017). El Arenal is located on the south bank of the Río Chira 24 km north-northeast of the provincial capital Paita .
Geographical location
The district of El Arenal is located in the central north of the province of Paita. The district consists of the place El Arenal and the adjoining area to the south. Another place in the district is El Tablazo.
The El Arenal district is bordered to the west by the district Colán , in the northeast on the district Amotape and the southeast by the district La Huaca .
