Eldivan

Eldivan is a city and a district in the Turkish province of Çankırı . The place is about 12 kilometers southwest of the provincial capital Çankırı and is home to about 42 percent of the district population. An earlier name of the place was Dümelli or Dümeli.

The district is located in the south of the province. It borders Şabanözü County in the west , Korgun County in the north, the Central County in the east and Ankara Province ( Kalecik County ) in the south . Eldivan is connected by a country road to Çankırı in the east and Sabanözü in the west. Eldivan Dağı, 1809 meters high, is in the south of the district .

The district was formed in 1960 and consists of 16 villages ( Köy ) with an average of 273 inhabitants in addition to the district town , the largest village is Hisarcıkkayı (607 inhabitants). With eight inhabitants per square kilometer, Eldivan has the lowest population density .
