Bayramören is a city and a district in the Turkish province of Çankırı . The district town is located about 50 kilometers northwest of the provincial capital Çankırı and is home to about a fifth of the district's population.

district

Bayramören is the second smallest district in the province and also has the lowest population. It is located in the north of the province and borders Kurşunlu County in the southeast, Atkaracalar County in the southeast, and Çerkeş County in the southwest . It has cross-provincial borders with the districts of Ovacık ( Karabük Province ) in the northwest and Araç ( Kastamonu Province ) in the north.

Bayramören is connected by a country road with Kurşunlu and the European route 80 in the south and with Araç and the trunk road D030 in the north. The district town lies on the Gerede Çayı River . This flows eastward to the border of the district, turns north and is later called Soğanlı Çayı . The district is located in the western part of the Ilgaz Dağları mountain range , the highest point is Çilek Tepesi at 1,486 meters .

The county was split off from the northern part of Kurşunlu County on May 20, 1990. Bayramören was a separate Bucak in this district until then and had 5,092 inhabitants at the 1985 census . In addition to the district town, the district also consists of 27 villages ( Köy ) with an average of 126 inhabitants. Karakuzu is the largest village with 340 inhabitants. The population density (13.7) does not even reach half the provincial average of 28.7 inhabitants per square kilometer.
