Elena Hight (born August 17, 1989 in Princeville ) is an American snowboarder . She starts in the halfpipe discipline .

Career

Hight has been participating in the Ticket to Ride World Snowboard Tour competitions since 2002 . She took her first podium finish in February 2004 with second place at the World Superpipe Championships in Park City . She drove her first FIS World Cup race at the beginning of the 2004/05 season in Saas-Fee , which she finished in 12th place. As the season progressed, she came third at the US Snowboarding Grand Prix in Breckenridge and Mount Bachelor and at the World Superpipe Championships in Park City . At the Snowboard World Championships 2005 in Whistler , she finished 19th. The following season, she finished second at Mountain Creek at the US Snowboarding Grand Prix and third at Mount Bachelor and Breckenridge . In her first Olympic participation in Turin in 2006 , she achieved sixth place. In March 2006, she arrived at the Burton US Open at the Stratton Mountain Resort .

In the 2006/07 season, Hight won the Abominable Snowjam on Mount Hood . At the Winter X Games 2007 in Aspen , she won the bronze medal. At the US Snowboarding Grand Prix she took three second places and thus reached second place in the Grand Prix halfpipe rating. In March 2009 she took third place at the FIS World Cup race in La Molina, her first podium finish in the World Cup. In the 2009/10 season she won the Winter Dew Tour in Snowbasin and took third place at the Roxy Chicken Jam in Mammoth . At the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver , she came tenth. In January 2011 she won bronze at the Winter X Games . In the 2011/12 season she won The Burton Pro-Test, the US Snowboarding Grand Prix in Mammoth and the Burton US Open at Stratton Mountain Resort . She won silver at the Winter X Games 2012 and Winter X Games Europe 2012 in Tignes . In February 2012 she came in sixth place at the Snowboard World Championships in Oslo . She finished the season in 17th place in the World Snowboard Tour overall ranking. As in the previous year, she won the silver medal at the Winter X Games 2013 and the Winter X Games Europe 2013 . In the 2012/13 tour halfpipe evaluation she achieved fifth place. She was eighth on the superpipe at the Winter X Games in 2014 , 2015 and 2016 . In January 2017 she won the gold medal in the halfpipe at the Winter X Games 2017 . At the Burton US Open 2017 in Vail , she finished second in the halfpipe.
