Elisabeth Vitouch (born April 6, 1951 in Vienna ) is an Austrian journalist and politician ( SPÖ ). From 2001 to 2015 she was a member of the Vienna state parliament and municipal council .

education and profession

After graduating from high school in 1969, Elisabeth Vitouch studied Romance studies and psychology at the University of Vienna . At the same time she completed an acting and singing training. Vitouch had engagements at the Theater der Jugend , the Wiener Volkstheater and the Kammerspiele Salzburg . She also worked for radio and television in Austria and became known through her work in programs such as Am dam des , Autofahrer Fahrt , Jolly Joker, Wiener Stadtradio and Seitenblicke . Vitouch also worked as a multilingual host of live events and as an author and composer (songs for children and adults, Viennese sagas, cooking with dear Augustin). In 1984 Vitouch starred in the film Die Praxis der Liebe by Valie Export , and she also wrote a column on the animal-human relationship in the “Wiener Blatt”. Vitouch his PhD in 2002 for Dr. phil. and currently works as a freelance journalist.

politics

Elisabeth Vitouch has been a member of the ÖGB since 1975 . From 2001 to 2015 she was a member of the Viennese state parliament, councilor and member of the council committee for culture and science (see also parliamentary and council elections in Vienna 2001 , 2005 and 2010 ). In 2007 she was elected chairman of the European Commission of the Vienna City Council. In the same year she moderated the SPÖ rally on May 1st on Vienna's Rathausplatz .

Private

Elisabeth Vitouch is married to the university professor Peter Vitouch and has two sons; the younger, Anatol Vitouch, is an author, the older, Oliver Vitouch , cognitive scientist and rector of the Alpen-Adria-Universität Klagenfurt .
