Ellis E. Huber , actually Erich Huber , (born March 31, 1949 in Waldshut ) is a German doctor and health politician.

Life

Ellis Huber attended the Friedrich-Gymnasium in Freiburg im Breisgau , where he studied medicine , German and history at the Albert-Ludwigs-University . In 1978 he received his license to practice medicine after working at hospitals in Tuttlingen and Berlin-Spandau .

In 1978 Huber was one of the founders and from January 1979 the managing director of the non-profit "Medical Information and Communication Center - Health Store Berlin eV". In 1979 he became a research assistant at the Max von Pettenkofer Institute at the Federal Health Office and developed concepts for a federal cancer registry . In 1980 Huber was the organizer of the first German Health Day , a counter-event to the 83rd German Doctors' Day in West Berlin in 1980 with 12,000 participants. As a result, over 40 health shops opened in the Federal Republic of Germany. In 1981 Huber was one of the organizers of the second German Health Day in Hamburg. The central topics were health-related self-help, neighborhood help and civic engagement. The Federal Cabinet discussed this event.

From 1981 to 1986 Huber was a health councilor ( department head ) in the district office of Berlin-Wilmersdorf and Kreuzberg . From 1986 to 1991 he was first head of the health and social services department at Landesverband Berlin e. V. of the Paritätischer Wohlfahrtsverband . He has been a board member there since 1994 and has been deputy chairman since 2014 . In 1987 he was elected President of the Berlin Medical Association and after re-elections in 1991 and 1995 he held this office until the beginning of 1999.

From 1999 to 2001 he was initially managing director of Securvita GmbH and from 2001 to 2005 board member of Securvita BKK in Hamburg. After retiring, he worked as a project developer, research assistant at the Institute for Public Health at the University of Heidelberg-Mannheim and as a lecturer at the European University Viadrina . From 2010 to 2013 he was again a board member of Securvita BKK. In addition, Huber was a member of the board of directors of the IPPNW for ten years (1993–2003) . Since 2004 he has been a member of the board of the Professional Association of German Preventologists and has been its chairman since 2007.

In February 2011, the Hamburg public prosecutor initiated an investigation into suspected breach of trust against Ellis Huber and five other people after the Federal Insurance Office (BVA) had filed a criminal complaint. The preliminary proceedings against Ellis Huber and the five other accused were closed by the public prosecutor on January 10, 2017 due to a lack of suspicion.
