from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Elmar Pichler role (* 26. February 1960 in Bolzano as Elmar Pichler ) is an Italian journalist and politician from South Tyrol . From 2004 to 2009 he was chairman of the South Tyrolean People's Party and from 2013 to 2014 a member of the state government .

Life

The trained journalist worked for the South Tyrolean daily newspaper Dolomiten and was editor-in-chief of the Sunday newspaper Zett from 1991 to 1995 .

Pichler began his political activity as SVP youth officer for Bozen, when he was 25 he was able to move into the local council for the first time. From 1989 to 1995 he was spokesman for the parliamentary group , from 1995 to 2005 Vice Mayor of the state capital Bolzano and as such a member of the SVP party leadership. In autumn 2005 Pichler Rolle was again Vice Mayor of Bolzano and also City Councilor for Budget and Economy.

In April 2004 Pichler Rolle was elected party chairman of the South Tyrolean People's Party; his predecessor in this office was Siegfried Brugger since 1992 . After a rather unsuccessful act - under Pichler Rolles leadership, the SVP slipped below the psychologically significant 50% mark for the first time in important elections - Richard Theiner was elected as his successor at the 55th state assembly on April 18, 2009 .

On October 26, 2008, Pichler Rolle was able to win a mandate for the South Tyrolean state parliament and thus at the same time the regional council of Trentino-South Tyrol with 24,300 preferential votes and subsequently resigned from the Bolzano municipal council. In the South Tyrolean state parliament he was parliamentary group leader of the SVP until the beginning of 2013.

On February 5, 2013 Elmar Pichler role has been following the resignation of Hans Berger in the South Tyrolean government , elected after the election of the previous candidate Arnold Schuler had failed in January. In the Durnwalder V cabinet, Pichler Rolle took over responsibility for landscape, environmental protection and spatial planning as well as land registers and cadastre as state councilor . As a result, he also applied to succeed Luis Durnwalder as the SVP's top candidate for the state elections in the fall, but was clearly defeated by Arno Kompatscher , who won 82.4% of the party members' votes in the basic election.

In the 2013 state elections , Pichler Rolle surprisingly missed re-election with only 5,132 preferential votes, making it the 26th on the SVP list. As a result he withdrew from politics and took over the management of the Schnalstaler Gletscherbahn AG on behalf of the owner Athesia . Active in Athesia's communications department since 2017, Pichler Rolle announced his candidacy on the SVP list for the Italian parliamentary elections at the beginning of 2018 , but withdrew it at the last moment.
