The Elmaualm is a former alpine hut in the Salzburg Tennengebirge , which has now been converted into a refuge . The Salzburger Bergsportclub Oberalm is the tenant of the hut. This is managed by club members on a weekly basis in summer, and it also offers overnight accommodation for mountaineers.

The hut is located at 1533  m above sea level. A. Height on the south side of the Tennengebirge in Pongau in the municipality of Werfenweng . It can be reached quickly and easily, and is the starting point for mountain tours in the area of ​​the Werfener Hut above . The hut's sun terrace offers a view of the Werfener Hochthron in the north, to the east of the Eiskogel , Tauernkogel and Dachstein , and on the south side is the impressive main Alpine ridge with its three-thousand-meter peaks covered in glaciers .

  • from Wengerau ( 995  m , parking lot, near Werfenweng ) via Gasthof Gamsblick , walking time: 1½ hours
  • from Unterholzbauern ( 1100  m , parking lot, near Pfarrwerfen ) via Mahdegg-Alm and Tanzboden , walking time: 2 hours
  • from Gasthaus Samerhof ( 950  m , parking lot, near Werfenweng) via Zistelbergleiten , walking time: 1½ hours
  • from Lampersbach ( 900  m , near Werfenweng) via Faistenberggut , walking time: 1½ hours

Note: the former toll road from Werfenweng to the Alpengasthof Mahdegg-Alm is closed
