Elvedina Muzaferija (born August 20, 1999 in Visoko , canton Zenica-Doboj ) is a Bosnian ski racer . The two-time Bosnian champion took part in the Winter Olympics and World Championships and competes in all disciplines.
biography
Elvedina Muzaferija comes from Visoko in the center of the Dinaric Mountains and starts for the SK ZE-2010 from the canton capital Zenica . She attended school in Sarajevo . At the age of 16, she competed in her first FIS races and won her third with a slalom in Bansko . In the same winter, she went to the Winter Youth Olympic Games in Lillehammer , where she finished 16 and 25 in combination and super-G . In the giant slalom she was eliminated, in the slalom she did not take part in the second round.
In January 2017, Muzaferija made her World Cup debut in the Zagreb slalom and, a week later, also made her European Cup debut in the downhill from Saalbach . In the same month she won her first two national championship titles on the Bjelašnica in the technical disciplines. At her first World Championship in St. Moritz , she did not get past 55th place in the slalom, and she could not finish the giant slalom. At the end of the season, she also made her debut at a junior world championship in Åre and placed 36, 38 and 57 in combined, downhill and giant slalom. At the Olympic Games in Pyeongchang , she led the four-man Bosnian contingent as the flag bearer and also carried the national flag at the closing ceremony. In the combined slalom she was eliminated with good chances of the historically best result in Bosnia at the Winter Games (21st place by Enis Bećirbegović in the 1998 downhill). In downhill, super-G and giant slalom, she finished 31st, 42nd and 44th, in the final slalom she was eliminated.
On January 12th, 2020 she was the first Bosnian to win World Cup points with 29th place in the combination of Zauchensee .
