Emőke Szőcs (born October 20, 1985 in Miercurea Ciuc , Romania ) is a former Hungarian and formerly Romanian biathlete and cross-country skier .

Emőke Szőcs works as a teacher and trainer and lives in Miercurea Ciuc . The SPORT CLUB athlete Miercurea Ciuc is trained by Márton Simon. She has been practicing biathlon since 2001 and was promoted to the Romanian national team in 2003. In 2002 in Ridnaun , 2003 in Kościelisko , 2004 in Haute-Maurienne and 2005 in Kontiolahti , the Romanian took part in the Junior World Championships. She consistently achieved results in the 30s and 40s, only in the pursuit race in 2004 Szőcs achieved a better result with 29th place. In 2006 she took part in the Junior European Championships in Langdorf and achieved her best result with 14th place in the sprint.

The first major event in the women's field was the 2004 Military World Ski Championships in Östersund , where Szőcs finished 47th in the sprint, with the military patrol ninth. She has been competing in the European Biathlon Cup since 2006 . She achieved her best result so far in 2009 when she was eighth in a sprint in Altenberg . She also competed in the Biathlon World Cup for the first time in 2006, in Oberhof , and was 15th and 80th in the sprint race together with Dana Cojocea , Alexandra Rusu and Mihaela Purdea in the relay race. She achieved her best result so far as 68th in 2008 in Hochfilzen . She finished the summer biathlon world championships in 2007 in Otepää as 24th of the sprint in both cross-country and roller-skis . In the pursuit on roller skis she did not finish, in the cross-country mass start she came in 20th place. The 2008 European Biathlon Championships in Nové Město na Moravě brought Szőcs 42nd in the sprint, 47th in the pursuit and with Rusu, Diana Mihalache and Doralina Runceanu tenth of the relay race. At the Open Balkan Championships in Biathlon 2008 in Băile Harghita Szőcs ran to fifth place. It then took two years for the hungaro-Romanian to play again at the European Championships in Otepää . She was 41st in the individual and sprint, 33 in the pursuit.

In cross-country skiing, Szőcs has been taking part in the Continental Cup races since 2011 . In March 2013 she won her first victory at the Balkan Cup in Predeal over 10 km freestyle. At the Nordic World Ski Championships in 2013 in Fiemme Valley , she finished 78th in the sprint, 69th place over 10 km freestyle and 23rd place together with Ildikó Papp in the team sprint. In February 2015 she achieved 62nd place over 10 km freestyle at the Nordic World Ski Championships in Falun and 19th place together with Ildikó Papp in the team sprint. At the Nordic World Ski Championships 2017 in Lahti , she came in 53rd place in the sprint.

Szőcs, who belongs to the Hungarian minority of Romania, has been playing for Hungary since the 2011/12 season.

After the 2017/18 season she ended her biathlon career.
