Emil von Riedel
Emil Heinrich Freiherr von Riedel (born April 6, 1832 in Kurzenaltheim , † August 13, 1906 in Munich ) was a Bavarian lawyer and politician.
Life
origin
Emil was the son of pastor Rudolph Heinrich Riedel (1797-1853) and his wife Amalie Charlotte Christiane, née Hermann (1803-1881).
Career
After studying law, Riedel joined the Bavarian state administration service. In 1859 he became a laborer in the Ministry of the Interior and in 1870 Ministerialrat. In 1872 he was appointed Bavarian representative in the Federal Council , where he was in the committees for trade and transport and for the judiciary.
From 1877 to 1904, Riedel was Minister of State for Finance under King Ludwig II and the Prince Regent Luitpold . In the longest ministerial period of all royal Bavarian state ministers, he laid the foundations for a new Bavarian financial constitution . By being awarded the Order of Merit of the Bavarian Crown on June 25, 1888, he was first raised to the personal nobility and on June 8, 1890 to the hereditary baron status .
Riedel approved the funds for the construction of the Kurhaus in Bad Reichenhall and was made an honorary citizen by the city in 1900 , and Riedelstrasse became a part of the city. Hospital named after him. He has been an honorary citizen of Munich since 1902 .
family
In 1861 Riedel married Aline Ernestine Steurer (1834–1862), a daughter of the master turner Jakob Steurer from Ansbach. After her untimely death, on May 16, 1865, he married Malwine Maria Rüber (* 1842), daughter of the architect Eduard Rüber . The couple had several children:

villa
The villa built by Emanuel von Seidl in 1893 for Riedel in Ambach ( Münsing municipality ) is listed as a monument under file number D-1-73-137-14 in the Bavarian Monument List and is known locally as the "Ministervilla". The building briefly attracted public attention in 2012 when investment advisor Carsten Maschmeyer and actress Veronica Ferres considered moving in, but decided not to move after a local controversy over tree felling.
