Emil cow
Emil Kuh (born December 13, 1828 in Vienna , Austrian Empire ; died December 30, 1876 in Meran , Austria-Hungary ) was an Austrian writer and literary critic .
Life
After graduating from high school, Emil Kuh joined his father’s cloth trading business in Trieste and then worked for the Nordbahn in Troppau . Kuh met Friedrich Hebbel in 1849 and became his friend, his first biographer and the first editor of his works (1865–1868).
From 1861 he headed the features section of the Österreichische Zeitung , in 1862 he worked for the Wiener Presse and in 1867 for the Wiener Zeitung . From 1864 he was a professor of German language and literature at the Vienna Commercial Academy . Because of a lung disease, he sought relief on Capri and moved to Merano .
His poem "Ihr Glocken von Marling" was set to music by Franz Liszt in 1874 for mezzo-soprano voice and piano. The song was published in 1879 by Kahnt-Verlag (Leipzig). Together with Faust Pachler, he edited Friedrich Halms works in twelve volumes.
His son Paul Kuh-Chrobak became a high official and the last finance minister of Austria-Hungary .
