Felix Bamberg

Felix Bamberg   (born May 17, 1820 in Unruhstadt ; died February 12, 1893 in Saint-Gratien (near Paris )) was a German diplomat , writer and publicist .

Felix Bamberg was a son of the private scholar Moritz Bamberg and Ernestine Meyer. He attended grammar school in Glogau and Friedrichswerder grammar school in Berlin and then studied philosophy and political science in Berlin , Paris and Göttingen . In 1846 he received his doctorate and then worked as a translator and author. In 1851 he entered the diplomatic service of Prussia and was employed at the embassy in Paris, where he went through the career steps of a diplomatic career, advice, character as vice-consul, character as consul and from 1867 consul in Paris. In 1859 he married the Frenchwoman Françoise Elisabeth Husson, they had two sons.

In 1870/71 he was head of press affairs at the German headquarters, then political advisor to Edwin von Manteuffels . He worked for the Allgemeine Deutsche Biographie . For the series General History in Individual Representations published by the German historian Wilhelm Oncken , he contributed to the volume History of the Oriental Affair in the Period of Peace in Paris and Berlin .

From 1873 he was consul in Messina , from 1880 consul general in Genoa and in 1887 he was retired.

He was also the editor of Friedrich Hebbel's diaries and letters .
