Emstadt is a district of Schalkau in the district of Sonneberg in Thuringia , together with the hamlets of Görsdorf and Truckendorf, which are supervised by the municipality .
location
The small farming village is located southwest of Schalkau and is on the border with Bavaria . The border town is surrounded on three sides by Bavarian territory. The nature reserve Magerrasen near Emstadt and Itzaue is in the immediate vicinity.
history
The place was probably mentioned for the first time in 1205. 33 residents live in the hamlet in 2012.
On July 1, 1950, the previously independent communities of Görsdorf and Truckendorf were incorporated.
During the time of the division of Germany, the place was shaped by the measures taken by the GDR authorities to guard the inner-German border . In 1976 the face of the village was greatly changed by the demolition of a large number of abandoned courtyards. What remains of this time is the natural remainder of the former border strip.
dialect
Itzgründisch , a Main Franconian dialect, is spoken in Emstadt .
