Encantado , officially Portuguese Município de Encantado , German enchanted , is a Brazilian municipality in the state of Rio Grande do Sul . It lies at a height of 58 meters above sea level and extends over 13,916 hectares (as of 2018). Encantado had 20,510 inhabitants in 2010. The population was estimated on July 1, 2019 at 22,706 inhabitants, who are called Encantadens ( encantadenses ).
In 2010 the area of the municipality was given as 147.38 km², in 2018 it was 139.160 km². In 1959 the municipality still had 1033 km² with 40,810 inhabitants, the independent towns of Arvorezinha (1959), Ilópolis (1963), Putinga (1963), Relvado (1988) and Doutor Ricardo (1995) were separated through regional reforms . The former district of Nova Bréscia came to Arroio do Meio in 1964 , which had already emancipated itself from Encantado in 1934.
