The 1999/2000 season was the fourth edition of the English national ice hockey league , the English League . As in the previous year, the league was divided into a Premier Division and a Division I , with the Premier League being the 3rd division of British ice hockey after the Ice Hockey Superleague and the British National League and the English League Division I being the fourth level. Only English teams took part in it.

Mode and participants

The teams played in regional groups, a North Conference and a South Conference . In a single round everyone played against everyone. The first six of the northern group and all teams of the southern group then played two representatives for the final round in two play-off groups. There, the overall winner was determined in play-offs with two legs.

North Conference

The Blackburn Hawks returned to the league after, while the Grimsby Buffalos retired after just one season.

With the departure of the teams Solent Devils , Peterborough Islanders II and Invicta Dynamos and the rise of the Cardiff Devils II in the Premier League , only five of nine teams remained in the South Conference.
