Enrique Delgado (Bishop)

Enrique Delgado (born December 26, 1955 in Lima , Peru ) is a Peruvian clergyman and Roman Catholic auxiliary bishop in Miami .

Life

Enrique Delgado first studied at the University of Lima and obtained a master's degree in Finance and Accounting in 1982 . He then worked as a manager in Lima. In 1991 he went to the United States as a seminarian for the Archdiocese of Miami . He studied in Miami and Boynton Beach and received on 29 June 1996, the sacrament of Holy Orders .

After ordination, he served as a chaplain in Key Biscayne and Hollywood . He was later a pastor in Key Largo and since 2010 in Weston . In 2015 he was at St. Thomas University in Miami Gardens for a doctor of theology doctorate .

On 12 October 2017 it appointed Pope Francis to the titular bishop of Aquae Novae in Proconsulari and auxiliary bishop in Miami. He was ordained episcopal on December 7th of the same year by the Archbishop of Miami, Thomas Wenski . Co- consecrators were the Bishop of Saint Augustine , Felipe de Jesús Estévez , and the Bishop of Orlando , John Gerard Noonan . Delgado is the first Peruvian to serve as a bishop in the United States.
