from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The ensemble Hornschuchpromenade / Königswarterstraße is a group of buildings in Fürth and is in accordance with Item 1, paragraph 3 of the Bavarian conservation law under conservation . The ensemble is part of the list of architectural monuments in Fürth , in which the architectural monuments of the Central Franconian city of Fürth are listed. This list is a partial list of the list of architectural monuments in Bavaria. This list is based on the Bavarian Monument List , which was first created on the basis of the Bavarian Monument Protection Act of October 1, 1973 and has since been maintained and updated by the Bavarian State Office for Monument Preservation . The following information does not replace the legally binding information from the monument protection authority.

Hornschuchpromenade 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5.

description

The ensemble includes the development of the Hornschuchpromenade, the Königswarterstraße and the subsequent side streets (Pickertstraße, Zähstraße), a small park with an avenue as well as individual buildings on Luisenstraße, Jakobinenstraße, Nürnberger Straße and Rudolf-Breitscheid-Straße. Exceptions are the - nonetheless listed - properties at Königswarterstraße 22, 24, 26 and 48.

On the former Ludwig Railway , which has been running here since 1835, a narrow urban green area, the "Promenade", was created from 1838. The "upper Weinstrasse" running north of the railway line was renamed Promenade in 1890, and since 1912 it has been known as the Hornschuch Promenade to commemorate the industrialist Christian Heinrich Hornschuch (1838–1912), a benefactor of the city. The former Bahnhofstrasse, which runs south and has been Königswarterstrasse since 1875, was named after the wealthy benefactor Wilhelm Königswarter (1809–1887).

Since 1883, mostly four-storey stately tenement houses with very elaborately designed sandstone facades have been built on these streets , mostly in the forms of late historicism ( neo-renaissance , neo-baroque , German (neo) renaissance ), but also in art nouveau and transitional forms. The cohesion of the complex and the urban unit was compared with Parisian boulevards . The exceptionally well-preserved building stock extends into the smaller side streets in a comparable architectural style. "To this day, the most elegant living area of the affluent bourgeoisie in the commercial and industrial city of Fürth can be seen, which in its almost completely preserved closeness also represents one of the most impressive Wilhelminian city quarters in Bavaria and Germany." ( Bavarian State Office for Monument Preservation ). Disturbances of the appearance partly caused by bomb damage arise with the properties Hornschuchpromenade 11 and 19 and the new buildings Königswarterstraße 82/84 instead of the lost, high-quality villa of the innovative machine manufacturer Johann Wilhelm Engelhardt (1816–1878).
