Eon McKai

Eon McKai (* 1979 ) is an American porn director . He is considered one of the leading representatives of the genre of old porn . The pseudonym "Eon McKai" pays homage to the singer of the punk bands Minor Threat and Fugazi , Ian MacKaye .

Life

McKai was involved in the emerging alternative porn scene on the Internet and photographed some of the early sets for the scene website SuicideGirls , which was launched in 2001. (GothicSluts.com went online as early as 1999, which marked the beginning of the alternative scene.) After graduating from film school at the California Institute of the Arts , he decided to direct pornographic films and introduced himself to director Veronica Hart . Hart put him in contact with the production company VCA, which signed him as a director in 2004. In 2006, after producing several films for VCA, McKai was hired by the Vivid Entertainment Group to run the new label VividAlt.

McKai's films are "alternative" porn films with younger actresses with alternate looks from subcultures (such as punks , goths, and skaters ), many of whom are non-established actors. Contrary to the prevailing trends in the industry, McKai prefers to make films with a storyline and high production standards instead of gonzo films. His influences include Andy Warhol , early “artistic” porn directors like Alex de Renzy , Gregory Dark and Stephen Sayadian , and the aesthetics of “alternative” websites like RaverPorn, SuicideGirls and BurningAngel. Well-known actors in his films include Joanna Angel , Justine Joli , Katja Kassin , Dana DeArmond , Kurt Lockwood , Rob Rotten, Charlotte Stokely.

In 2006 McKai was a visiting lecturer in pornographic film at the University of California, Santa Barbara . He was reported in the New York Times , the Los Angeles Times and as part of the Berlin Porn Film Festival in 2006 in Spiegel magazine.
