Erdberger footbridge

The Erdberger Steg crosses the Danube Canal in Vienna as a footpath and bike path . It connects the 2nd district, Leopoldstadt , and the 3rd, Landstrasse . In the 2nd district, Friedensgasse (corner of Schüttelstraße) leads to the footbridge, in the 3rd district, Haidingergasse (corner of Erdberger Lände). The footbridge is about halfway between the Rotunda Bridge and the Stadium Bridge .

The Erdberger Steg was built by the Vienna city administration from April to October 2003 in place of the last Danube Canal ferry at a price of around 1.1 million euros. With the construction of the footbridge with a span of 85.2 meters and a width of 3.7 meters, the building material wood returned to the Danube Canal in the form of composite wood ( larch ) after more than 100 years .

The opening of the Erdberger Steg took place on October 31, 2003.
