Erdmann Schott

Erdmann Schott (born December 8, 1900 in Geischen , Guhrau district , † June 9, 1983 in Halle an der Saale ) was a German Evangelical Lutheran theologian.

Life

The son of a pastor Erdmann Schott devoted himself to the put-away high school studying theology at the Universities of Breslau , Greifswald , Berlin and Marburg before 1926 his promotion to Dr. theol. took place. In 1927, Schott was appointed as the second clergyman and brother teacher at the Zoar Brothers Institution near Rothenburg , Lausitz , and in 1929 he took over the pastor's post in Dersekow near Greifswald, which he held until 1953.

After Erdmann Schott - he was a student of Rudolf Hermann - in 1930 in Greifswald for Systematic Theology Habilitation had, he taught there as a lecturer . In 1953 he switched to the full professorship for systematic theology at the University of Halle , and in 1968 he retired . The theological faculty of the University of Greifswald awarded him an honorary doctorate in 1954 . From 1963 to 1974 he succeeded Rudolf Hermann as the scientific director of the Luther Academy in Sondershausen .

Schott died in Halle in 1983. His grave is in the Laurentius cemetery .
