Results of the municipal council elections in Bolzano

The city of Bolzano has had a city administration since the beginning of the 13th century - some of the mayors are known from this time, but there were no democratic elections. From 1714 the mayors are well known. In January 1922 the first democratic municipal council elections took place in Bozen. The municipal council was dissolved in October 1922. The election results have been put online since 1995 and the mayor is directly elected. The 45-person local council is made up of lists linked to a candidate for mayor. Proportional voting applies without a percentage hurdle.

Local council elections 1922

The first municipal council elections took place in January 1922. Julius Perathoner from the German Association was elected mayor for the 10th time, the Social Democratic Party was represented in the local council.

Result of the municipal council elections in January:

  1. German Association: 1944 votes, 27 municipal councils
  2. Social Democratic Party: 687 votes, 6 seats
  3. Italian list: 429 votes, no mandate

The municipal council and the city council were dissolved before or during the march on Bolzano in September / October 1922.

Local council elections 1948

In the first municipal council elections in the post-war period, the South Tyrolean People's Party became the strongest party, the Democrazia Cristiana became the second strongest party. Since then, the DC or its successor parties in the center-left block, with one exception ( Giovanni Benussi was mayor for four weeks), has provided the mayor and the SVP the vice-mayor. Mayor became the former partisan Lino Ziller (DC) and vice mayor the later governor and former lieutenant of the Wehrmacht Silvius Magnago (SVP).

Result of the municipal council elections in July:

  1. SVP: 7,646 votes
  2. DC: 6,614 votes
  3. Socialisti : 3,727 votes
  4. Unità socialista : 3,523 votes
  5. Comunisti : 2,992 votes
  6. MSI : 1,336 votes
  7. Repubblicani : 616 votes

Local council elections 2005

Surprisingly, the strongest party was the South Tyrolean People's Party , which won 11 of the 50 seats (+3).

Municipal elections 2010

A total of 14 parties and groups were elected to the 45-member municipal council. The strongest faction in the municipal council was again the SVP with 10 mandataries, as the PDL soon split into two factions. Municipal elections 2015

In the municipal elections in 2015, the Partito Democratico and the South Tyrolean People's Party , each with seven municipal councils, became the strongest parliamentary groups. This was followed by the Lega Nord and Movimento 5 Stelle with five and four representatives.
