Erhard Domay (born April 30, 1940 in Gießen ; † June 25, 2012 ) was a German Protestant theologian. He was best known as the author and editor of theological and liturgical publications on the organization of church services.

Life and focus of work

Erhard Domay studied Protestant theology and German literature from 1960 to 1964 at the Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz and at the Philipps University in Marburg . In 1965 the first and in 1967 the second theological exam followed at the Evangelical Church in Hesse and Nassau . After seven years in the parish parish ( Winterkasten and Münster ), he moved to the Evangelical Church of the Palatinate as head of theological training and continuing education (from 1975 to 2003). Most recently he headed the project mediation of art in the communities in the regional church council of the Evangelical Church of the Palatinate. Erhard Domay retired in 2005. He was married to the artist Gabriele Domay and lived in Landau (Palatinate) .

One of the main focuses of his work was the relationship between theology and literature . Erhard Domay has published several reading books for religious instruction and community work. He also dealt with the relationship between theology and art . In addition to his publications, this mainly happened through meetings and study trips he organized with spiritual and holistic objectives in Germany and France, as well as through his participation in the conception of the church license training . In this way he has brought works of art , church buildings and other architectural monuments to many people over the decades beyond the boundaries of his own Protestant regional church .

His literary and editorial work on the subjects of liturgy and worship is documented in the editing of numerous publications and through his collaboration with radio stations. Erhard Domay is, for example, the editor of several series of work aids for the design of church services (including the series Gottesdienstpraxis, Series A, work aids for church services on Sundays and public holidays of the church year, continuously since 1977; Series B, work aids for the design of Church services on casuals , public holidays, special occasions and workbooks for community practice from 1988 to 2007), as well as co-editor of the magazine for worship and sermons (from 1983 to 2007). Since the 1990s, he has been committed to an inclusive, fair language in worship and in church practice. Erhard Domay was one of the editors of the Bible in Righteous Language and several book publications with this focus.
