Erich Bischoff
Oswald Erich Bischoff (born July 30, 1865 in Görlitz , Province of Silesia ; died January 14, 1936 in Leipzig ) was a German orientalist , Germanist , religious researcher , author and translator.
Life
Erich Bischoff was a son of the businessman Oswald Bischoff and his wife Auguste, née. Thomae. He studied at the Universities of Leipzig and Halle, and was founded in 1890 in Erlangen with the thesis Prolegomena to the so-called Dionysius Cato to Dr. phil. PhD. In the following year he passed the 1st state examination. He then taught at high schools in Wernigerode and Merseburg . In 1894 he married Emma, b. Loewe, with whom he had two daughters. In 1908 he became editor-in-chief for several magazines at the Bernhard Meyer publishing house in Leipzig. In the 1920s, he appeared repeatedly in court proceedings against prominent anti-Semites as an expert at their side. From 1933 he worked as a private scholar .
