Erich Dreher (born December 2, 1919 - October 1996 ) was a German football player .

Player career

After playing at Rot-Weiß Neukölln in his youth , Erich Dreher moved to Hertha BSC at the age of 17 . And just ten days after his 18th birthday, he played his first game there, which ended 1: 1 at the later Gaumeister Berliner SV 92 . Hertha missed the title with equal points and goal difference only because of the poorer goal quotient .

However, Dreher did not make any further appearances that season and only played two games in the following season. In the Tschammerpokal 1939 Dreher, on the other hand, played three games, but his goal was too little and so the blue-whites failed in the second final round 2: 5 at Vorwärts-Rasensport Gleiwitz .

In the 1939/40 championship, which was held under the name of the Danzig Cup , the striker was only used twice. Even in 1940/41 he was far from a regular place, but scored twice against Spandauer SV in his only season appearance . It was not until the Tschammer Cup in 1943 that he drew attention again when he netted three times in his only outing against Wilmersdorfer SC just like Fritz Balogh .

When Hertha were finally able to celebrate a title again in 1943/44 with the Gaume Championship, Dreher only played one game again. But even in this he underlined his scoring danger and scored the 2-1 final against BSV 92. With the championship title, the Berliners qualified for the final round of the German championship, which was last held until 1948 . With a 0-0 and a 7-1 replay against LSV Danzig , the Herthaners trained by Karl Tewes moved into the round of 16 against Holstein Kiel , which they won 4-2. Since Dreher was used surprisingly in this game and was able to convince his coach, he was also used in the quarter-finals against HSV Groß Born . However , after a tough fight in Stettin , they had to admit defeat to Pomerania , where former Herthan Fritz Ahlers was in the starting line-up, 2: 3.

In 1944 Dreher then received his draft notice and was stationed with the Air Force in Stargard . There he played for the Stargard Air Force Sports Club until the end of the war .

After the Second World War , Dreher initially played for SG Neukölln , but went to SV Arminia Hannover in 1946 with several other Berlin footballers . With the Lower Saxony he fought for a regular place and played two years in the top division. After the Arminen had finished the season in sixth place in 1947/48 , he switched to the Stuttgarter Kickers , where he should experience his most successful time.

In the Oberliga Süd 1948/49 he immediately scored twelve hits in 20 missions. The 1949/50 season was anything but optimal. While Dreher was only used six times, the Kickers ended up in a disappointing last place and thus relegated to Division II . There , thanks to the 26 goals from Dreher, who only needed 27 games , the Stuttgart team won the championship and rose to the top league after a break of only one year. In the league, the Kickers succeeded in 1951/52 and 1952/53 twice in a row to keep up. In the meantime, Erich Dreher had made such a contribution to his club that he received the Kickers' Golden Ring of Honor in 1953 . He then played his last season for the Stuttgarter Kickers in 1953/54 , in which he had a major share in the recent relegation with his 16 hits.

After this season he went to SV Prag Stuttgart , where he ended his playing career in 1955 at the age of 35.
